Hearing. I don't think I could live without being able to enjoy music. As long as I have my sense of hearing I can still listen to it, and sing it. Playing guitar might be tricky without the sense of touch or sight, but there have been some amazing blind guitarists as well. So, I'd definately say I couldn't live without my sense of hearing.
Okay... I really shouldn't be posting this. Hell, I shouldn't be watching Macca vids on youtube. I've got a damned essay that is due tomorrow that I NEED to work on.
But this was too touching. Paul's performance of Here Today from his new live DVD.
(In case the Beatle fans of my F-list have never heard of this beautiful song, Paul wrote it after John Lennon was killed. He's said it's basically all the things he never got to say to his friend).
Listen to the way his voice cracks while performing it. Poor Paul, to have had his best friend taken from him like that. = (

If I had a dollar for everytime I've spilt hot tea on myself, I'd be a very rich woman by now.
Each time it happens I mentally kick myself and say "next time I'll be more careful".
And yes, I've gone a few months now w/ out spilling tea on myself. Till today. FAIL.
I was carrying a mug of green tea down the stairs to the basement (and I didn't have the light on in the stairway b/c it wasn't THAT dark yet), and I was belting out "Oh Darlin!" at the top of my lungs (b/c I like to sing when no one is home). And of course, I splashed the still very hot water on my hands.
Ouch!
I fail :P

Case in point: My Beatles obsession lead to inspiring me to want to play the guitar. I can sort of ish play. I'm not amazing or anything...
but having the guitar as a hobby helps keep me sane!
And now.... my Doctor Who obsession is gonna help me w/ my guitar course. WHY?? B/c I was having trouble remember what a tritone sounded like (an interval of 6 semitones between one note and another note) till I realized...OMG thats the first two notes in the Doctor Who theme! And then the distance btwn the first note and the third note is a perfect 4th! THANK YOU WHO :P I just might pass this interval test afterall!

*sigh* So I'm really far behind on my schoolwork right now. About two weeks ago I was visiting my older sister at her new house...and bonked my head. LONG story short I had a mild concussion. I missed an entire week of school.
I was better this past week, but it's been hard to focus, and I've had on and off headaches, nowhere near as bad as they were the week before though.
My TA has been gracious enough to give me an extension on my essay for Children's Lit.
SO... I've gotta actually try and get some work done! Like...actually watch The Wizard of Oz so I can write an essay analysing the book and movie.
I'd much rather be watching A Hard Days Night...*grumbles*

John freaking LENNON!!! Annnnd George Harrison!
Hell I'd just go and see The Beatles if I had a time machine. And that time machine would of course be, THE TARDIS!
In fact, I'm still waiting on the Doctor Who eppy where they go to the 1960s and "Meet The Beatles". If that happens in Matt Smith's era, then maybe, just maybe, I'll enjoy it!
Its so true! If they had never met...I don't think either of them would have made it.
I can't even begin to put in words how much fun it was. It was ONE HOUR. But oh my god, it was the most fun I've had in such a very long time.
At the end, HE WENT INTO THE AUDIENCE! It was so epic, he had his guitar with him and it was just so cool! Finished the song in the audience. EPIC!
Annnd he said he plans to have a new album out soon. And played one of the new songs. It sounded just as good as the stuff on the first album!
BEST HOUR I"VE HAD IN AGES.

First of all;
David Tennant
will always be my Doctor!
Isn't that the cutest? Hopefully I wont turn into a major Benedict Arnold and become a rabid Matt Smith fangirl. Stranger things have happened I suppose. With that said... I am going to TRY and be coherent about Waters Of Mars below the cut. TRY.
Also...not that I don't think anyone on my F-List are fans of Seinfeld or Curb Your Enthusiasm...but I've got a small spoiler from the latest Seinfeld Reunion ep on Curb.
( Don't drink the water!! )
In other news. DAVID COOK CONCERT TONIGHT!!!!!! <3 And I'm going. Oh yes. I swore on a previous entry that I would go, at all costs. AND I AM. HELLS YES! I'm going with my parents. So that makes me a bit more of a nerd...but it's far away and I don't drive, and it's still gonna be fun so there!

For once, the English department at my Uni is doing a guest lecture series that I would find remotely interesting.
Rather ironic timing actually, my last post was about the 2006 adaptation, which I reccently got back into.
I AM SO GOING TO THIS!!

I'd forgotten what a great adaptation the 2006 version of Jane Eyre is. Ruth Wilson is the only actress who ever really got the role right.
Many other actresses were much too old...also they made Jane seem much much too subdued and bland. Yes she's quiet most of the time, but she has a lot of internal emotions and feelings going on. She's also got a lot of energy and spunk behind her quietness. Ruth Wilson has all these great little smirks and expressions. She's also good at the sudden bursts of emotion. She portrayed Jane in the way I'd always imagined her to act when I first read the book.
Toby Stephens is a pretty good Rochester too. A lot of the older adaptations had good Rochesters, except the acting was too stagey. I think mainly b/c in the book Rochester never shuts up, and he says these lines that, while beautiful on paper, aren't really realistic if recited word for word.
The production values are also just goregous in this version. The costumes seem really realistic, and the cinematography is beautiful. I also like how Jane, The Rivers Family, and Mrs. Fairfax actually sound like they're from Northern England.
My one little beef with this adaptation is all the kissing in the scene where she was trying to leave him. It's Jane Eyre not Victorian soft porn! Its also such a shame that they cut out the majority of Rochester's line's in that scene in favour of face eating. Those lines really helped the reader to understand Rochester's actions, and the fact that he'd downright lied about the mad woman in his attic.
This was one of the books that made me love Literature. The summer I read it was a pretty miserable summer, alot of my friends were out of town and I felt very much like a loner. When I read this book, it helped me take my mind off things. So thats why I became such a lit nutter. I was always a nutter though. lol

Everyone's just like "Oh try harder" but I don't know. And its not even like its mandatory..

In other words....Phantom of The Opera Sequel = FAIL.
I'm sure the ghost of Gaston Leroux will be dropping some Chandaliers on opening night.
And it's gonna be called "Love never dies". TACKY TACKY TACKY!!!
Why couldn't they just leave well enough alone?
Webber must've watched Hamlet 2 one too many times.

We've got family and family friends coming over for dinner tonight. I'm REALLY not looking forward to it.
Big family dinners just get everyone stressed out. My mum fusses over everything. Like towels in the bathroom. She insists on putting out fancy hand towels with embroidery on, that we only use for "special occasions". WTH? I mean....who is really gonna care about towels?
Then she gives herself all this extra work, cooking all this food and baking stuff. Then she just gets really pissy and stressed out.
Then everyone gets here, and the dogs start barking. And it gets noisey, and everyone is talking about different things at once, and everyone is like 20 decibles louder because my grandparents can't hear very well. My family drives me crazy sometimes.....

I love streaming music on Last.Fm, its really great for discovering new music. It says that now you get a 30 song trial of Last.Fm radio and then you have to subscribe. Grr.
So I've signed up for this volunteer program at my campus. You mentor highschool students and they shadow you at your classes for a day. It'll look great on my application for teacher's college (if/when I ever apply). I met some really nice people at the orientation, one guy as it turns out, is in my English class, we wound up taking the same bus too and had a nice chat most of the way.
But I should really try and get back to my fall reading week now. I've got an insane amount of things to do and readings to catch up on and I just don't know where to begin. But hey....my room is CLEAN!! I spent most of yesterday and friday night organizing things, vaccuming etc. I also took this white arm chair that I never use out and moved a bench type thing into the corner, brought my amplifier up from downstairs and my guitar and music stand. Now I've got a nice little guitar corner. I should move my Beatles pics to that wall...(maybe get one of Janis Joplin too..)
