  Yay for the new season!! Even if I think its a little too early for True Blood right now. I mean come on... it's a series about Vampires and murders, and crazy ass mothers running around yelling "I GOTS A DEMON INSIDA MEEE"....its better in the fall.  But it has a cult following so it makes sense that HBO would want season two out ASAP.

 

 And not only am I STILL shocked that Stephen Moyer (Bill) is BRITISH in real life.....but he and Anna Paquin (Sookie) are DATING IN REAL FREAKING LIFE!!! lol. No wonder they have such chemisty on screen haha.

Okay, technically its still June 1st.

40 years ago John Lennon and Yoko Ono held their Bed in for Peace in Montreal Canada. I have so much admiration for the two of them. They really tried to promote that beautiful message of love and peace. I know SOMEDAY the world will listen. Someday <3
John Lennon has always sort of been my idol, hehe.

Tonight my parents, sister, and I went to a downtown gallery where they were showing images from the Bed In. They were also screening "Across the Universe" for free, and we just missed it! (Darn...oh well!)

There was a peace tree in the gallery where you could write positive messages of peace which would go to Yoko, and be put in the time capsule at the peace tower in Reykavik in Iceland. It was so amazing to see this tree, with hundreds and hundreds of positive messages of peace and love just brimming on each branch. If we all tried to be more positive and more loving the world would just be better!

So I am FINALLY finished my first year of University. I should have been finished a month or so ago, but because of the three month strike earlier in the year, our term was extended.

It is a huge relief that its all over. I thought I would never get through the past two or three weeks of hell, but I did! There was a point last week though where I felt like my brain was going to give out, I was in the middle of my last paper (which I only had two days to write because of the other papers) and I still had a test and an exam to write and I thought I'd never make it to Tuesday (the day after my final), but I did!

I did nothing but veg yesterday. Well, I got started on cleaning my room, but for the most part I vegged. And it was awesome.

My parents took me out to dinner last night and to the Star Trek movie. Now, I've never really watched Star Trek (I saw the odd episode with my older sister when I was a kiddie), and I LOVED the film. It was just amazingly well done.

There were parts where you could really tell JJ Abrams was behind it. He makes good movies and series, even if lost pisses me off sometimes.

Honestly, what is not to love about Rose's wacky, dramatic, over protective, mother? She's truly one of my most favourite Doctor who characters. (Way up there with the doc, rose, and donna) I love it when she takes down the Dalek and goes "Now where the hell is my daughter??" Ahh Jackie ^-^



Annnnd....I guess I'd also have to say Gertrude from Hamlet. She's an interesting character. Sometimes I wonder if she knowingly drank from the poisoned cup at the end of the play, to try and save Hamlet... I know there isn't much in the text to suggest that, other than the line "I will my lord, I pray you pardon me" but I'd like to think that is why she does it.

Last year when I saw Hamlet at Stratford, there was an amazing moment between Hamlet and Gertrude. I cannot remember if it was after he saw his father's ghost, or after he killed Polonius, (perhaps it was after both) but at some point durring that scene Hamlet had a complete breakdown and just started sobbing. Gertrude, somewhat tentatively, reaches out, and pulls Hamlet into her arms. She then started almost rocking him, humming in his ear, as if he was still a baby. It was just such a beautiful, magical moment. On another note..I would just like to say that I personally don't buy the "Hamlet has an Oedipus complex" theory....its BS.

Just two more weeks and then I'm finished my first year of University!!

I'm scared about my mythology essay though. = (

Oh well....the time off after my English exam and before I start work I'm gonna do nothing but be lazy, and watch Arrested Development, Slings and Arrows, and Doctor Who!!

My friend Chris sent me a link from BBC Radio (oddly we get BBC radio to stream in Canada, yet not BBC video...) of David Tennant and Catherine Tate hosting a radio show. Oh it's hilarious. I love those guys!! It seems like they're really good friends in real life too!

Rotfl.... they're singing right now. Catherine can sing quite well! David...not so much...but he's funny and adorable so its all good :P

Ugh. This has to be the sickest of all April Fools jokes. I just woke up. At 6:00 am, and couldn't fall back asleep for an hour. So at about 7:00 I said, "screw it" and got up anyway.

On the bright side I was asleep by 11:30 last night... so I at least got 6 and a half hours of sleep.....ugh.

Wow. I got an email from the Service Canada folks, and they have called me in for an interview. If I get the job I'll be working for a program that helps Canadian youth find jobs. Which I guess is kinda ironic because I'm a Canadian youth, looking for a job. But still, I'm very excited about this opportunity, and I hope all goes well.


In a completely unrelated note, David Cook is going to sing on American Idol tomorrow night. Yay! He's amazing!

I didn't go to my tutorial today. My mom dropped me off at empress subway station, and instead of heading out to York I came to the library to work on my English essay.

I know, I shoulda gone to my class, but I've never missed a single English tutorial. We're learning NOTHING in her class. We jsut discuss the texts we've read. She doesn't teach us jack shit about the mechanics of essay writting. AND when she doesn't agree with your opinions in class discussions, she cuts you off and tells you that your wrong. WHich is bullshit as there are many ways of interpretting a text.

I'm cranky and PMSY today, and I just didn't have the energy to put up with her crap. So I'm trying to hammer out some work on my essay. I'm working on the introductory paragraph right now, and I'm struggling like hell with it, but at least I've got a few sentences now, which is an improvement I likely would not have made if I'd gone to Phd. McCrank's damn tutorial!!

In other Englishy news... I saw at the library a Graphic Novel adaptation of The Great Gatsby. It was kinda cool in a very odd way, because in the graphic novel, the artist has turned the characters into like birds and fish and stuff. It was really weird, but kind of awesome too. I love that book! <3

SO I had a nice lunch at Swiss Chalet with my grandparents, my great aunt (Who just turned 80), my mom, and my older sister. I had a Chicken Quessedilla with a toss salad (with balsamic dressing), and a green tea. Sooo yummy. Plus with the wacky portions they give you at these restaraunts theres enough left over for dinner tonight or lunch tomorrow.

We all had some nice family conversation today. Even if my grandma and great aunt often have sibling rivalry, which my grandma usually instigates (or at least thats what my mom says). My grandma and great auntie were both commenting on how I look older, or more like a university student now. haha.

My auntie had some nice pictures of the cottage, some pictures of my grandma and her when they were young (I had no idea they were SO beautiful as young girls hahaha!). My grandma had a picture of a young man she "went with for four years" but it broke off when she became Christian. (My Aunt is quite religious, the rest of my family....not so much haha).

After the nice family gathering my mom, sis, and I went to a used book store in our neighborhood. Sadly there is a sign saying the buissness is for sale...so I'm hoping it'll still be a used book store once its been purchased and not something else. We've been going there for years.

I got a little paper back copy of Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde (just because the literature anthology I bought for school is a pain in the arse to read b/c its so big, and the library was taking too too long with the copy I put on hold). I was skimming along the book shelf in the poetry/literature section, and a name bounced out at me "John Lennon". I snatched up the book.

It was a book with some of his wacky sketches, his witty prose/poems, and some bits of auto biography. He worked on it when Yoko was pregnant w/ Sean, up till the 80s. It was published after he died. I almost didn't get it (because the total of the two books, the one I needed for school and the Lennon one) would be over ten dollars, and I'm really very broke right now. (The money I DO have I'm using for taking the ttc to school), so my mom gave me 6 bucks for the Lennon book.

I skimmed through bits of it, and it seems great. The auto biographical things are really interesting and filled with thoughful introspection. John Lennon was ALWAYS analysing himself. And the witty little wordplays and his less serious writings in this book are amusing to no end.

I just saw the CUTEST scene btwn Jack and Gwen from Torchwood. Oh Jack Harkness and his sex crazedness!

For those of you who do not know, Torchwood is a spinoff series of Doctor Who. It surrounds Jack Harkness (who is TOTALLY made of win. Too bad he didn't have a longer stint on Who with the 10th doctor).

Dear Toronto Public Library;

Stop being such a tease and process the rest of Doctor Who Season 2 already! I've been waiting MONTHS for these DVDs now, get your arse in gear and process the last 3 freaking discs of season 2!!

And get cracking on season 3 while your at it. = ]

Short entry cuz I have to leave for work.

I have two reasons to be happy though;

1st and most importantly: I hung out with Mandy yesterday <3!! I hadn't seen her in almost a year, even though we talk on the phone all the time. It was really nice. Even though she started to feel a little sick w/ a headache afterwards. (Feel better!)
Our campuses are literally right next to each other, so there's really no reason why we can't try and meet up more often on fridays = P (unless we're both insanely busy)

The 2nd reason for my happiness: the toronto public library is FINALLY getting more doctor who DVDs!! *squeeeee* They have the first 3 discs of season 2 already!! *jumps up and down*
They've got all of season 1....but I don't like season 1 as much as the other 3 seasons. *cough*no david tennant in season 1*cough*

*GLEEEE*

They're FINALLY going to be finished restoring The Brock Monument in May!!! *jumps up and down with mad glee*

*Plans to go to Queenston Heights for the reopening ceremony.....REGARDLESS of the fact that she has classes on fridays, and REGARDLESS of the fact her parents will probably be unwilling to drive her*
